Darragh Byrne

Darragh is from Cork originally and has studied Media Studies in University of Ulster and then went on to do Video Production in Galway as well as Film Production in U.C.D. as well as holding a diploma in Multimedia from FAS Tralee and a certificate in Sound Post Production and Post Production from Screening Training Ireland.

He spent many years working in the industry for various employers notably the famous Roger Corman Studios in Galway working on dozens of his low-budget feature films as well as Ros Na Run before going to London where he edited for the BBC for a number of years.

He then returned to Ireland where he worked for Screenscene , Ireland’s premiere post production facility house where he worked on several film and television productions from Garage, Fallout and Once to The Resteraunt and The Panel.

Since joining the team in Young Ireland Film makers Darragh was the technical advisor on Suckers and The Suitors as well as helping out with dozens of shorts and editing many of the member’s projects. He also attended a course in Youth Drama/Youth Work in Ballymun.

2. Your favourite film/ TV show/ commercial is… : The Godfather/The Wire/ That Gorilla /Cadburys.
3. Your last big belly laugh? I know I’ve put on a bit of weight but come on don’t laugh at me!
4. If you were a car you’d be a…. Facel Vega (coolest car ever!)
5. What’s your ideal holiday? Holiday in Cambodia(or Castlecomer)
6. Your last meal on earth would be… Burger on the toilet!(Just like Elvis!)
7. Your favourite music is… Nick Cave
8. Who do you most admire? At the moment Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire!(I’ve been to Bombay; its really scary and he managed to make a film there!) and Trainspoting(I’ve been to Edinburgh….)
9. Your favourite book is… Catcher in the Rye
10.What will you be doing 10 years from now?…
