Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson The Story : This panto style version of the classic tale sees Young Jim Bimbo receiving a treasure map from drunken pirate Billy Bones. After Bones is murdered, Jim joins up with his Dame-like Mammy, a group of silly distinguished types and a load of dirty pirates to retrieve it. However, once they arrive on the infamous Treasure Island there are double crosses afoot. Aye aye The Facts : The ending of this play is a copy of the ending from the movie, The Usual Suspects . Our version saw simple island savage Ben Gunn steal off with the treasure and reveal himself to be the evil Captain Flint, as Long John Silver hobbles after him in pursuit, bewildered as hell. 'And jus' like that, I'm gone!' The myriad references in this play include, Joe Dolan, Monty Python (dead parrot!), Harry Potter, the Daz doorstep challenge, Titanic , Jerry Springer, The Usual Suspects, The Simpsons, Penthouse Magazine and Kilkenny pubs The Pumphouse and Pat Carrolls Memorable Scene : It was that dastardly Flint all along! Long John Silver realises who's been minding the treasure. Don't let him get away! Damn it..... Choice Line : Squire Longbottom: ‘How are knives and forks going to help us open up this treasure chest?' Jimmy Joe Mack: ‘Sure, ya can knife and fork the shite out of it!
