The Story :
This comedy adventure tells the story of famed outlaw, the charming Robin Hood and his band of merry men as they attempt to foil the marriage of the virtuous Maid Marian to the slimy Sheriff of Nottingham whilst simultaneously trying to rob his castle of all the gold within
The Facts :
The story of this play carries on from the 1938 Errol Flynn starrer, The Adventures of Robin Hood. In fact, the look of Luke Harris’ Robin Hood is based on the Errol Flynn model.
The characters of Robin Hood, Will Scarlett, Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck, Allan -a- Dale and the Sheriff of Nottingham are all based in Robin Hood legend. All other characters were created for this play.
The disguises that each one of the Merry Men took for the Oceans 11style break in to the Sheriff’s castle were, troubador (Robin Hood, Little John, Will Scarlett), charity collectors (Friar Tuck, Duncan Mallory, Desmond Mallory), a priest (Allan -a- Dale) and a cook (Seamas Garfield).
The song that Robin and Marian dance to is ‘Everything I Do, I Do It For You’ by Bryan Adams from the 1991 Robin Hood film.
Not only was this the sweariest Dreamstuff play since Life of Brian but this also featured more fight scenes than any play we’ve done.
Kevin Mooney bought fresh chicken every night to eat onstage as Friar Tuck. One night he even came on stage brandishing a slice of pizza.
The full title of this play was Robin Hood: Bigger, Merrier and Uncut
Memorable Scene :
Seamas Garfield’s laxative takes effect on the Sherriff during his pre-wedding banquet with disgustingly hilarious results.
Choice Line :
Robin Hood: ‘We could hardly be called Robin Hood and his unisex band of outlaws could we?’
